Does anybody remember this malted food drink, Cocomalt, that powder as hard to mix with milk as oil with water? Does anybody know if Cocomalt sponsored any OTR programs or does anyone have any taped ads from this R. B. Davis of Hoboken, NJ company?? Can anyone tell me whatever happened to Cocomalt and when did it disappear from our grocer's shelves???

I was only able to find a reference to Buck Rogers in mid 30's, and a comic with Joe Penner. The following links mention COCOMALT:

http://www.rjbalrog.com/photos/buffalo_bill/puzzle.html http://www.culinary.com/foodtext/cookies/599.shtml http://web.tusco.net/gardner/BLB's.htm http://www.teleport.com/~jrolsen/premiums/buckrogers.html http://www.biglittlebooks.com/premiums.html http://www.fanuniverse.com/features/toptoys/new/Joe%20Penner%20Cocomalt.JPG http://www.yesterdaze.com/ydkitchen.htm

No sites I found mentioned the product except in regard to premiums and sponsorship.

I have come across 3 radio programs sponsored by Cocomalt. They are:

THE PARK AVE.PENNERS with Joe Penner (Columbia 1936-1938) BUCK ROGERS OF THE 25th CENTURY (Columbia 1933-1934) MR. COCO & MR. MALT (NBC(Blue) Midwest region 1931-1932)

I have done research on radio programs and radio/early TV advertising since 1988. In my work with radio/TV advertising, I collect magazine ads of the products have I researched (all 1275 of them at this time!) and maintained a record of the radio and early TV programs the product sponsored.

I know that Cocomalt was still sold in the U.S. into the early 1950's, but I haven't found any ads after that. I would assume, Cocomalt disapprared sometime in the mid-late 1950's.

As for any recordings of Cocomalt commercials, I know a PARK AVE. PENNERS broadcast still exists. You may want to try

RADIO SPIRITS, INC. P.O. Box 2141 Schiller Park, Illinois 60176. This is the outfit that acquired RADIO YESTERYEAR a couple of years ago. RADIO YESTERYEAR had THE PARK AVE. PENNERS in their massive archive. I believe RADIO SPIRITS, INC. now has the huge RADIO YESTERYEAR archive (over 22,000 programs).

If all else else fails, E Mail me at dg125@earthlink.net. I have a copy of THE PARK AVE. PENNERS.

You have 2 options. You can go to my main web page, which is at home.earthlink.net/~dg125. At the bottom of the page, there is a direct link to my E Mail address.

If that doesn't work, I also have a 2nd E Mail address through Netscape. It is gradg125@netscape.net.
