So, Corliss, do you have a boyfriend named Dexter?
Actually, you were named for the heroine of a teenage situation comedy show of the 40s titled Meet Corliss Archer. Corliss was a cute sort of scatterbrained teen who had lots of boy friends and whose biggest problem in life was trying to make her daddy understand her. Her main beau (that's boyfriend) was named Dexter Franklin. Corliss' competition in the teen age angst department in those days was probably Judy Foster of A Date With Judy. Interestingly, Judy, too, had a goofy boyfriend named Oogie (yes, Oogie) Pringle. Anyway, back to Corliss, the show started in 1943 and ran until pretty much the end of original radio comedy, with the last show airing in 1953. Copies of the program are available through radio club libraries and dealers.
