This was a soap opera with the full title of "The Story of Myrt and Marge" on CBS that ran from 1931 to 1939 live and in transcribed syndication until 1946. The theme song was "poor Butterfly."
The leads were played by the mother and daughter team of Myrtle Vail and Donna Damerel. In the show, Myrt was the seasoned chorus gal and Marge was the youngster, trying to break into the big time. Most of the 140 episodes that have survived are from the 40s with Alice Yourman as "Myrt" and Alice Goodkin as "Marge." Jack French |
