You didn't really specify what type of hit, comedy, drama, kid show, etc. or were you looking for the top music hit in November 1940? One thing for sure, when it came to music shows it had to be the Glenn Miller Show that was on the air three nights a week and in 1940 Miller had such great hits as In the Mood; Pennsylvania 6-5000 and Tuxedo Junction. I can remember contacting Tex Beneke, vocalist and sax player with Miller, by amateur radio in the 1950s. His amateur radio call letters are KØHWY. He lives in Santa Ana, CA.

It is with saddness that I amend my Monday May 8, 2000 posting and report that Tex Beneke, singer and sax player who took over the Glen Miller orchestra after that band leaders death in WW II, died Tuesday May 30, 2000 of respiratory arrest. He was 86 years old and singer on Miller's hits, "Chattanooga Choo Choo", "I Gotta Girl in Kalamazoo" and "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree". Additionally he was
