I represent a regional theatre in Davenport, IA. We are interested in recreating a "vintage" radio broadcast in front of an audience at a local Arts venue..not for actual broadcast..but sort of a play within a play. Where can either original OTR scripts be acquired or new productions in OTR style? We are able to pay royalties

Thank you

You can go to my own web site radio database and enter keyword scripts to find sites that might have them on-line. There is one site in particular that has a number of them on-line as I contributed one of them (March of Time). See link below.

The very best OTR program you could present, would be one that your group would write yourself, perhaps a sit-com format using a made-up name of a "family" that lives in your community and their friends and neighbors...the real names of those in the group that you present this program to...which can be changed for each group where you appear... filling in the names of those present. Keep it simple, keep it funny,light-hearted... and you will get invited back. It is better then trying to do a drama or mystery with amateurs. And lack of sound-effects and music... We did this locally and were kept busy for a full 12-montrhs .

Hello.

Below are listed the ways I know of -- to get a hold of OTR scripts -- especially Lux Radio Theatre scripts.

Best wishes, Glen

...........................................

To the best of my understanding: the script which was used for "Merry Christmas, George Bailey" was the same script which was used for the Lux Radio Theatre presentation of "It's a Wonderful Life". This radio play was presented on CBS Radio on March 10, 1947 and was produced by the radio department of the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency. It was sponsored by the Lever Brothers company who then made Lux Toilet Soap. (J. Walter Thompson handled the Lever Brothers account).

Where to Find Lux Radio Theatre Scripts (to the best of my understanding):

(Thanks to Connie Billips and Arthur Pierce and the appendix in their book, "Lux Presents Hollywood", I was able to make this list as complete as it is. I am interested to see if anyone has any resources to add to this list.)
