I am sure there are MANY like me out there in the same situation. I have MANY-MANY Reels of half-track and quarter- track Tapes full of OTR programs that I have failed to dub off on cassettes. I also have just one Reel- to- reel machine left that will work. Oh yeah,.I may get some of them dubbed .But the large collection I am affraid will never be copied. How many of you are about to break down and cry fat tears with me knowing many of these(our) shows will never be heard again?

If those shows are indeed unique and/or rare, it would be a shame not to preserve them or allow appropriate people to have access. On the other hand, if they are not unique, there may be much better sounding examples available, and your collection is merely worth the price of the used tape and reels.

Of course, you need a list of all your shows. Check the list against the logs at this site, and the logs at Jerry Haendiges' site. Then, check the remainder against Jay Hickerson's book. If you have shows NOT found in the above three locations, you may indeed want to get those shows donated to an appropriate repository. Otherwise, why cry over a bunch of scrap plastic that contains unknown quality dupes of already - available material?

You could also consider auctioning your reels at eBay or other sites. Some folks actually bid on unknown quality, n-generation tapes.

If you don't have a list of the shows in your library, don't try to transfer the blame to other folks!
