| According to a newspaper article, my grandmother Clara Aleta Galloway was on the radio program Night Court of the Night. This program would have been aired from NYC in the 1930's. Does anyone have information on the show- I know it lasted only a summer. Also, since I know that my grandmother also performed on the radio as a singer, would she have had to join a particular union, and if so, are there records available for research? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

You are referring to "Night Court of the Air" which CBS aired the summer of 1936, Saturday evenings at 8:30 pm. No copies have survived.
Radio actors, including singers, had to join American Federation of Radio Artists (AFRA). This union changed its name in the 50s to AFTRA, when they added Television actors. The union was not strong enough in the 30s to require every radio actor to join. The current union is not too helpful, but you can write them at |
