Does anyone, anywhere, know anything about this series of quarter-hours? I heard it 40 years ago at 1YD Auckland New Zealand as part of a retro programming night.

From my memories, the hero was an English-sounding (tho perhaps East Coast American - back then I couldn't have told the difference)young man who had an un-house-trained houseboy called, I think, Hashimoto. Or perhaps Mr Hashimoto.

1YD Auckland is long gone away, & I wonder if anyone else has ever heard of this show?

The title of this series is "The Honorable Archie", sometimes known by the longer title, "Frank Watanabe and Honorable Archie". It ran on NBC's Blue in the mid-1930s and about 16 episodes have survived. Eddie Holden played Frank, the Japanese houseboy and Reggie Sheffield was Archie, his British gentleman, in this California household. A situation comedy, it was usually 15 minutes in length although there are a few 30 min shows too.

Jack,

many thanks for that response. Memory is strange and I somehow translated Watanabe into Hashimoto. Oh well...

Now I'm off to see if I can buy a tape to re-awaken further memories...
